Review of Virgin Media:
History: Formerly known as NTL:Telewest, Virgin Media was the first provider of ‘quad play’ entertainment products and services – consisting of television, broadband, telephone and mobile phone. Although the company is headquartered in New York, most of its operations are actually UK-facing. NTL services, previously marketed under the NTL, Telewest and Virgin.net brands, merged with Virgin Mobile under the umbrella of Virgin Media on February 8, a day the company has renamed ‘V Day’.
Products: You can mix and match Virgin Media’s entertainment services or choose all four as a package:
Virgin TV: With Virgin TV’s digital cable service, users can access more than 140 channels including comedy, music, films and children’s programmes. With a choice of medium, large or extra large packages, you can find a deal that suits your television watching habits. And with Virgin TV, viewers can pause, rewind and watch programmes more than once.
Virgin Media Broadband: You can choose from three different packages – Size: M, Size: L and Size: XL – with Virgin Media Broadband, depending on the connection speed needed. Speeds range from up to 2Mb to up to 20Mb and unlimited downloads are offered with all three. Size: M is most suited for those with basic internet needs, such as email and web surfing, while those listening to podcasts and downloading films may opt for the Size: XL option.
Virgin Media Phone: There are six different telephone options to choose from with Virgin Media Phone. Whether customers are looking for unlimited anytime UK landline calls, unlimited weekend UK landline calls, or minutes that can also be used for mobiles and international calls (offers range from 200 minutes to 800 minutes), customers can select the package that best caters to their needs.
Virgin Mobile: With Virgin Mobile, customers can either opt for pay-as-you-go or pay monthly deals. Monthly contracts offer a free mobile phone and a range of different tariffs with a combination of calls and texts, while free any time, any network minutes are available on Virgin Mobile pay-as-you-go deals.
