Saga offer home insurance for the over 50s, offering a better deal for older customers. They provide both buildings and contents insurance, either separately or as a joint policy.
They also offer specialist cover for landlords and a range of additional cover options so customers can build a policy tailored to their personal requirements.
Choosing a Saga home insurance policy
Policy-holders can benefit from the following as standard:
- Defaqto 5 Star rated cover
- Up to £1,000,000 buildings cover
- Up to £100,000 contents cover
- Up to £100,000 for alternative accommodation if you have to move out of your home
- New for Old replacement of items
- Up to £10,000 worldwide cover for your personal belongings (with Premier cover)
- Up to £25 to cover the cost of any switching fees
- UK-based phone advisers (with no automated telephone menus)
You can choose from two levels of cover with Saga home insurance Essential and Premier.
They also offer landlord insurance and a range of optional extra cover.
Saga Essential Cover
With this policy you can benefit from:
- Up to £1,000,000 buildings cover
- Up to £100,000 contents cover
- New for Old replacement of items
- Only needing to specify single items worth more than £2,500
- Accidental damage cover for non portable household electrical items
You also have the option of:
- Full accidental damage cover (e.g. for broken spectacles or DIY accidents)
- Personal belongings cover for items outside the home (e.g. mobile phones)
Saga Premier Cover
This policy includes:
- Up to £1,000,000 buildings cover
- Up to £100,000 contents cover
- New for Old replacement of items
- Only specify single items worth more than £2,500
- Accidental damage cover for non portable household electrical items
- Full accidental damage cover (e.g. for broken spectacles or DIY accidents)
- Personal belongings cover for items outside the home (e.g. mobile phones)
- No claims discount (keep down future premiums if you don’t make a claim)
- Matching sets replacements (if one item from a set is damaged, the whole set will be replaced)
Saga Landlord Insurance
When insuring their properties with Saga, landlords can take advantage of:
- Up to £500,000 buildings cover
- Contents insurance for £10,000, £25,000 and £50,000 (to cover carpets, furniture etc)
- Accidental damage cover (for items broken or damaged accidentally by tenants)
- Legal Expenses cover (unlimited legal advice & up to £100,000 for legal proceedings)
- Malicious damage/vandalism cover
- Alternative accommodation cover (to rehouse your tenants after a major incident)
- Rent Guarantee cover (optional)
- Multi-property discount (10% discount for every additional property you insure with Saga)
Additional cover options
You can add these extra features to your policy for extra protection where you need it.
Personal Belongings cover
Offers worldwide protection for your possessions up to £10,000 per incident (lower levels up to £2,500 or £5,000 are also available).
Home Cover
Saga will cover a range of emergencies relating to areas such as: plumbing and drains (including blocked drains and burst pipes), internal electrics (in the event of complete failure), pest infestation (such as removal of wasps or hornets nests) and security (i.e. glazing and locks).
Legal Expenses Cover
Offers unlimited personal legal advice and cover of up to £100,000 for a variety of legal proceedings. Policy-holders can also access a range of professionally written legal documents online that can be edited to meet your needs.
Garden Cover
Provides up to £1,500 towards replacing your shrubs, trees and hedges and £2,000 worth of cover for garden contents in the open, under your contents policy. Additional premium varies depending on your individual circumstances.
