Sainsbury’s is offering its new pet insurance customers three months of free cover if they apply by October 6, 2009.
Those who buy Sainsbury’s pet insurance online can also save an additional 20 per cent, and all new customers get a free £30 worth of Sainsbury’s shopping vouchers when they renew their policy.
The free pet insurance offer means that Sainsbury’s pet insurance customers will not have to pay for the last three months of their annual policy, for the first year.
The recent tough economic times have left some pets out in the cold when it comes to insurance protection, Sainsbury’s has found, as pet owners look for ways to cut costs.
But, this could turn out to be false economy if their pet suddenly gets injured or falls ill and requires medical treatment, warns Lucy Hunter, manager of Sainsbury’s pet insurance:
“Despite the increased cost of vet fees over recent years our research shows that over 450,000 people have recently given up their pet insurance in order to save money, which could leave them exposed to potentially very high veterinary bills.
“By introducing this offer we are trying to protect pet owners by offering them good cover at an affordable price,” she added.
Some of the cover available from Sainsbury’s pet insurance includes up to £7,500 for vets’ fees per condition, including £250 a year for behavioural problems.
