M&S Home Insurance

Various policies exist which range from a basic cover of the structure of the property to also covering your content and liability coverage against accidents. Contents insurance will protect your possessions against theft or damage. Most families underestimate the sum total of their belongings with an average household containing possessions totaling approximately £25,000 or more. There are many providers of home insurance so make sure you look around for the one most suited to your needs.

Why do I need Home Insurance?

No one expects their home or contents to come to any damage and so very few people are financially prepared for an emergency or theft. Repairing your home or rebuying lost contents can be expensive so it can be a relief to know you’re covered given any eventuality. It’s important to work out whether you need both buildings and contents insurance as it is possible to take out a policy focusing on only one of these rather than a joint policy.

It’s also worth noting that some properties, such as listed buildings or buildings with thatched roofs, may require specialist cover and therefore, would not be covered by a standard policy. Make sure you always read the fine print of policies well as more and more companies are now excluding certain things which you may need.
