Norwich Union: Young drivers need further training
05 October 2007
A spokesperson for Norwich Union said that young drivers should consider post-test driving schemes which, in addition to giving them better skills behind the wheel, can offer insurance benefits.
One such scheme, Pass Plus, has been set up by the Driving Standards Agency and allows new drivers to continue to improve their road skills after passing their test.
Statistics published in March by the Department for Transport stated that while road casualties were down four per cent, the numbers of people fatally or seriously injured were unchanged when compared with the previous year.
The Norwich Direct spokesperson said: “We would recommend ongoing and regular training for new drivers.
“It can help them with their road safety skills.”
The spokesperson added that in addition to utilising the benefits of Pass Plus, young drivers could reduce their insurance premiums with pay-as-you-drive, which has high peak and off-peak times to drive.
