Unlike most private medical insurance plans, which will cover children as part of an adult policy, the new Tesco child health plan is available just for children – parents do not have to insure themselves in order to benefit from the cover.
Jeremy Sutton, head of Tesco Health Insurance, says, “The new Tesco Child Health Plan will help give parents reassurance that they can find out what’s wrong with their child quickly with prompt access to diagnostic tests.
“There is no need for parents to cover themselves on this policy, and no annual maximum on claims. We are making health insurance available to a much wider range of consumers,” he said.
The policy offers access to a professional for private consultations, tests and diagnosis and private treatment if a child has to go into hospital for an operation or a surgical procedure that cannot be treated within six weeks on the NHS.
