Direct Line unveils NCD ‘matching’
11 July 2006
Many insurers allow a driver to cash their benefit on just one vehicle but Direct Line has announced this new offering, which will no doubt appeal to rural communities where drivers are more likely to own more than one car.
According to Direct Line, the policy of ‘matching’ discounts, unique to the company, is intended to reward safe drivers across all their vehicles, rather than just their designated first car.
“Many motorists now own two cars and it doesn’t seem fair that, although they have proved they are a safe driver, they are unable to claim NCD on more than one car,” said Emma Holyer, motor spokesperson for the insurance company.
“Direct Line believes that if you have evidence that shows you are a safe driver you should be able to benefit from a discount on all your insurance, not just one policy.”
Statistics show that there are nearly four million drivers in the UK with more than one vehicle registered in their name.
