Direct Line is offering new customers a 50 per cent discount on its contents insurance policy.

Households could save some money to put towards their summer holiday with the new offer from Direct Line home insurance, which is offering new customers half price contents cover all summer long.

Direct Line is hoping to make home insurance one less financial thing to worry about for UK households that are struggling to make ends meet at the moment.

The special offer is not limited to those who are buying a complete home insurance package, including building insurance, so it can also benefit tenants and others who do not own their home, as well as Direct Line buildings insurance customers.

“There are always unexpected costs during the summer, whether they be a much needed get-away, or entertainment for children during the school holidays. We want to help people cut costs where we can, so we’re cutting the price of new contents insurance policies in half,” said Andrew Lowe, head of Direct Line Home Insurance.

“Anyone considering changing insurers or taking up insurance for the first time should come to Direct Line to check that they’re getting the best deal,” he urged.

The 50% discount on Direct Line contents insurance is available to new customers until September 30, 2009. Households can also save 25 per cent when they buy online.
