Co-operative Insurance (CIS) was among the winners at this year’s British Insurance Awards ceremony.

CIS was presented with the Corporate & Social Responsibility Project of the Year Award at a bash at the Royal Albert Hall on Wednesday (July 4th)

The award recognized the work CIS efforts to educate young people about road safety.

Under the banner of Too Young To Die, the insurer’s Responsible Driving campaign saw the insurer teak up with road charity Brake.

Together the organisations created a road safety education pack which it is hoped will reach 600,000 students across 2000 schools nationwide.

Legal & General (L&G;) was awarded the Life Insurer of the Year Award at the same bash.

This marked the eighth time in ten years that L&G; has walked away with the coveted gong.

Accepting the award for Life Insurer of the Year, Gary Burchett, managing director of housing at Legal & General, said: “The life insurance industry continues to be very competitive and we certainly cannot rest on our laurels.”
