BT helps abandoned Biscit customers switch
20 March 2007
BT is creating a helpline for those 6,500 customers whose underlying service was provided by a direct connection to its own network, around half the total customer base.
They will be able to obtain their MAC number and give it to the broadband provider they choose for a replacement connection.
The helpline service aims to cut disruption and allow customers to link up online again as soon as possible.
“BT Wholesale is doing all it can to make sure that affected customers are supported by extending the deadline for disconnection and providing MACs directly to customers,” stressed BT’s director of regulatory affairs, Gaby Heppner-Logan.
But those Biscit customers whose underlying service was not provided by BT will not benefit.
Biscit also provided telephone services to thousands of customers who will now be unable to make outbound calls, except to the emergency services.
