Brits who are looking to use their caravan this Christmas should protect it with adequate caravan insurance, Saga has warned.
The majority of caravan owners will be using their caravan this festive season, the survey showed, whether to get away from it all on holiday, for housing Christmas guests, or as somewhere to send the kids while they get the dinner on.
Nearly half (41 per cent) of caravan owners will go on a winter holiday in their caravan, and Saga warns that travelling in the winter months needn’t be a disaster with careful driving and caravan insurance to protect them if something goes wrong.
Others will be more creative with how they use their caravan this Christmas – a third will use it to house guests who are visiting for the holidays, although only one in 10 respondents said that they would be happy to stay in a caravan for Christmas.
Almost a quarter of British caravan owners would use it as a safe haven from the stress that a family Christmas can bring, escaping there for some peace and quiet.
A further six per cent would retreat there if they had an argument with their partner, while three per cent would use it as somewhere to put the children or grandchildren to get them out from under their feet.
Caravan insurance can offer such cover as loss or damage of the caravan or its contents, liability cover for injury or damage to other people or their property, new for old cover, protection for awnings, and equipment such as solar panels and electrical appliances.
