New research has revealed that couples with joint savings accounts are cannier when it comes to hunting out new deals, such as credit card offers.
The study by the One Account found that the process of couples consolidating their savings accounts led them to shop around more for other financial services, such as credit cards, insurance packages and mortgage deals.
Cohabiters living together are also more likely to switch credit cards regularly 27 per cent to make sure they are getting the best deal, versus 21 per cent of singles.
Fifty two per cent of couples surveyed said they shopped around for insurance each year rather than continue with their existing deal, compared with just 36 per cent of singles.
Charley Watkins, marketing manager for The One account said: “Our survey certainly shows that two heads are better than one when it comes to sensible financing.”
